What's with the Rooster
In Retirement (SIR) is an organization of retired and semi-retired men.
joined together to maintain old friendships, form new ones and share
the interests of retirement. Incorporated in 1959, the organization now
has about 22,000 members in 157 branches. There are no dues, and no
advocacy of political, religious or fraternal organizations.
For September our Progarm Chairman Mario Vazquez has arranged for us to hear from Dave Gutierrez: Author of "Patriots From the Barrio," History of the 36th Texas Infantry Division in WWII. The US Army’s All Mexican-American combat unit was the Company E of the 36 Division 141st Battalion. They were from Barrios in Texas. After Basic Training, they shipped to North Africa, then to Italy and Southern France. They suffered many casualties in Italy. The sacrifice and bravery is written as it was taking place in a country, not their own, but for freedom. Be sure you come to hear history and how it happened.
