"Sharing the Interests of Retirement"

SIR Branch 54
Orchard Valley Summer 2014
Sons In Retirement (SIR) is an organization of retired and semi-retired men. We have joined together to maintain old friendships, form new ones and share the interests of retirement. Incorporated in 1959, the organization now has about 22,000 members in 157 branches. There are no dues, and no advocacy of political, religious or fraternal organizations.

For October Mario Vazquez, our Program Chairman, has arranged for John Suckow, US Navy Pilot, with extensive experience flying fighter aricraft on and off aircraft carriers, to share his Naval experiences.  He flew combat missions in Vietnam in 1967 and 1969.  For his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medals, Navy Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation and the usual Vietnam Vet Awards.   He is now doing Docent duties at the USS Hornet and at the Moffett Field Historical Society Museum.
