"Sharing the Interests of Retirement"

SIR Branch 54
Orchard Valley Winter 2015
Sons In Retirement (SIR) is an organization of retired and semi-retired men. We have joined together to maintain old friendships, form new ones and share the interests of retirement. Incorporated in 1959, the organization now has about 22,000 members in 157 branches. There are no dues, and no advocacy of political, religious or fraternal organizations.

For April Mario Vazquez, our Program Chairman, has arranged for  Marcel Tomassian, Branch 54 member and past Big Sir, to talk about the commemoration of the first Genocide of the 20th Century.  One hundred years ago, on April 24, 1915, the Turkish government gave official orders to eradicate all Armenians living within their borders.   During the time between that fateful date and the next few years, more than one and a half million Armenians died murdered by the Turks, died of starvation or diseases or even killed themselves in despair.  In addition to giving an insight on that odious crime to humanity, Marcel will talk about its impact on his family and the family of other survivors.
