"Sharing the Interests of Retirement"

SIR Branch 54
Orchard Valley Winter 2015
Sons In Retirement (SIR) is an organization of retired and semi-retired men. We have joined together to maintain old friendships, form new ones and share the interests of retirement. Incorporated in 1959, the organization now has about 22,000 members in 157 branches. There are no dues, and no advocacy of political, religious or fraternal organizations.

For August our Progarm Chairman Mario Vazquez has arranged for Horace Hines, Ph. D to speak on “The Science of Baseball”. (Member of Branch 54)  He received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Alabama and his doctorate in Biophysics from UC Davis.  He likes understanding how things work and hopes that this talk will increase your appreciation for how hard it is for a batter to hit the ball and why even if a hitter fails 70% of the time, he is REALLY good.
